WHY I TEACH
I teach to share the amazing benefits of yoga with others. I feel very
strongly that in this confused, chaotic time we all need to be able to find
balance. Yoga gives us a way to feel a sense of well-being and teaches us to
access inner peace, which creates that balance. It is also a wonderful way to
have a healthy, strong, flexible body, allowing us to function better in our
lives. Yoga has been a great gift in my life, and it is a joyful experience
to share it with others.
MY EXPERIENCE
I have practiced yoga since 1985, and began teaching in 1998. I have
completed five Intensive Teacher Trainings in Iyengar Style Yoga at
The Yoga Institute of Miami
with Bobbi Goldin. I have also taken intensive workshops with Rodney Yee, Dean Lerner,
Aadil Palkhivala and Felicity Green. I am a YogaKids
® Facilitator. YogaKids® is a nationally recognized educational program that teaches children
through yoga. It incorporates the Multiple Intelligence theory of learning,
and is a wonderfully fun program for children*. I believe we never stop
learning, so I continue to study and practice in the Iyengar tradition, and I
am registered with Yoga
Alliance.
The Iyengar Style, is focused on providing detailed instruction for correct
body alignment. This is an excellent style of yoga for all beginners, and for
anyone with flexibility limitations, as well as students who are prone to
injury.
ABOUT CLASSES
My classes are appropriate for beginners and
continuing
students. Classes are 1 and 1/2 hours long and always include
relaxation. I
provide a
comfortable safe environment where the emphasis is on exploring
the postures
and our experience of them. I encourage students to honor their
bodies and
approach yoga with curious and objective attitude. My hope is to inspire my
students to
go deeper into the experience of yoga. An anonymous
quote says, "No matter what our attempts to inform, it is our ability to
inspire that makes the difference."
